Expert driveway and patio installers in Worcester. Sandstone and porcelain patios, block paving and tarmac, built by a small team who do the work themselves.
We are a small team in Worcester and we do not run three sites at once. Here are recent projects, shown large, because the photographs are the only honest way to judge this trade.

Riven sandstone laid to fall, framed with a contrasting sett band and a step down into block paving. The dark grey pergola and matching fence line pull the whole garden together rather than sitting on top of it.
Levels are the hard part on a job like this. Two surfaces at two heights have to meet cleanly at the step and still run water away from the house.

Porcelain is unforgiving. The slabs are dense, the joints are narrow and every one has to sit dead flat, because a single high corner is visible from the kitchen window for the next twenty years.
Built up on a new red brick retaining wall so the terrace sits level with the house and the planting keeps its bed.

Porcelain terrace, brick retaining wall and block paving below it, all set out together. Getting the falls right across three materials is what stops water pooling at the bottom of the steps.

A terraced frontage gives you no room for error. The border squares up the plot, the soldier course holds the edge against the pavement, and the whole thing is haunched in concrete so it cannot creep.

Herringbone at forty-five degrees with a contrasting zigzag band running through it. Every block along that band is a hand cut, which is why most firms will quote you a plain border instead.

Every failed patio and sunken drive in Worcestershire failed underneath, months or years before the surface showed it. This is the part of our job worth paying for.
Excavated to depth, and the old surface and spoil leave on the lorry. Nothing gets raked aside and buried under your new patio to save a day's tipping.
MOT Type 1 laid and whacked in layers to a consistent depth. Tipped in one lift it looks the same on day one and settles unevenly by the second winter.
Slabs and blocks are set to fall away from the house so water runs off rather than standing. On a patio at door height this is what keeps the damp course clear.
Slabs go down on a full wet bed and are primed where the material calls for it. Spot bedding is quicker, and it is why patios ring hollow and crack at the corners.
Edge restraints and soldier courses set in concrete so the pattern holds its line and the edges cannot creep outwards under a car.
Jointed and vibrated in, the site brushed down and cleared, and we walk the finished job with you before we load up and leave.
Most firms with 25 years behind them have collected a one star somewhere. We have not. Read them yourself on our Google profile before you call anybody, including us.
N&R is a small Worcester firm. There is no sales rep and no subcontracted crew turning up on the Monday who have never seen the drawing.
We come out, measure up and put the price in writing with no charge and no obligation. What is included and what is not is on the paper.
